Choosing MCE Gives Back to Your Community
MCE is a not-for-profit agency, and giving back to our community is very important to us. As an MCE customer, a portion of your ratepayer dollars will be reinvested in community projects and programs, instead of shareholder profits and dividends.
Marin County Bay Area Green Business Program
MCE funds Marin’s Green Business Program, a voluntary partnership among business leaders, government agencies and non-profit organizations which recognizes and promotes businesses that demonstrate continuous compliance with applicable environmental regulations, conserve energy, water and other materials, implement sound environmental practices that prevent pollution and waste generation, and share environmentally responsible practices with other businesses in our community.
Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
MCE provided funding for the installation of five electric vehicle charging stations in our service area. Interested in learning more about charging electric vehicles? Click here.
Bidgely Home Area Network Devices
MCE partnered with Bidgely to offer free Home Area Network devices to 50 MCE customers. The software analyzes PG&E SmartMeter data to show you exactly how much energy your household appliances are consuming at any given time, how much it’s costing you, and the best ways to reduce your energy usage.
MCE’s best-in-California Feed-In Tariff program, made possible by ratepayer revenues, helps us promote and manage local renewable energy projects. MCE has a standard-offer contract, called a Feed-in Tariff, available to anyone in the MCE service area who wants to sell power produced by small-scale renewable energy projects.
Through our Feed-in Tariff Program, we’ve supported some great projects, like the San Rafael Airport Solar Power Project, the largest solar project in Marin County—which created 20 local jobs over a 3-month period. Next on deck: we’re planning a 1-megawatt solar shade structure to be built on an asphalt parking lot in Novato. Through these projects, we’re all creating and using more renewable energy.
